Mote Searches for Traces of Red Tide in Sarasota

Riley M: What site should I go to for red tide warnings?
I live in coastal southern NH and harvest and eat as much as I can of marine creatures. Unfortunately I ate several pounds of poisoned shellfish one day last summer and would like to avoid that experience in the future. I know the clamflat info site has some warnings for specific areas but I just need to know when the red tide is in.

Blame Bush
Red Tide is increasing because of global warming. Look at the data, it shows a 490% increase over each decade. No everyone will get sick when the flagellates in the red tide penetrate your skin and deposit their toxin for the eggs in your flesh!!!

This video shows what a red tide looks like. A red tide colors the water red and is caused by an incredible abundance of tiny microscopic planktonic organisms called dinoflagellates. They also biomuminesce, so at night the waves glow blue-green. Filmed at Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach, California on September 27, 2011 (c) APT Photos.
