BY: STEVEN HSIEH ANCHOR: MEGAN MURPHY You're watching politics news analysis from Newsy. They're both from the North Star State. They're both running for the GOP presidential nomination -- and now their back-and-forth on the road to the Iowa caucuses is grabbing headlines. On NBC's Meet the Press, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty criticized fellow Minnesotan Michele Bachmann's record -- or lack thereof. "I like Congresswoman Bachmann. I've campaigned for her. I respect her. But her record in accomplishment is nonexistent. It's nonexistent. And so, we're not just looking for folks who just have speech capabilities. We're looking for people who can lead a large enterprise in a public setting and drive it to conclusion. I've done that, and she hasn't. And Bachmann - an Iowan by birth - responded with a written statement -- reiterating her message. "Instead of negativity, I want to focus on my accomplishments ... I am proud of my record of fighting with resolve, and without apology, for our free markets, for sane fiscal policies, and in opposition to the advancement of the big government left." (Politico) The Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin says -- that's a savvy response to T-Paw's criticism. "It's not clear Pawlenty is going to make headway claiming that Bachmann doesn't have a 'record' when her agenda is to stop President Obama's agenda. And Bachmann's response is likely to endear her to the hard-core base (which wants to fight Obama tooth-and-nail) that will boost ...

Because he is in the wrong political party, The republicans will never nominate a woman or minority for President

Many of Cain's positions are consistent with those of the more "popular" GOP candidates. See the link for the rest.

But, Cain is black and Republicans will not contribute money to his campaign.

Cain supports the Gold standard.

Cain has strongly criticized the current implementation of Social Security, describing it as a "scam".

"Cain supports lowering the corporate tax rates from 35 to 25 percent, eliminating the capital gains tax, and suspending taxes on repatriated foreign profits.[9] He also supports elimination of the estate tax."

"Cain is a strong supporter of the FairTax, which would replace all federal personal and corporate income taxes with a 23% national sales."

"Herman Cain has made a number of comments to the effect that he believes Muslims are trying to implement "Sharia Law"."

well you see, republicans want change. they dont want the same old "career politicians" . but we all know republicans are schizophrenic, so their guy is rick perry. because he is not a "career politician". it just so happens, he is a politician as a career. but he is not a career politician

Don't knock Herman Cain. As a businessman he has been doing what will make him the most money and future favors from powerful interests. He now is winning friends in the Oil, Banking, Insurance and Pharmaceutical industries by just hanging in there and being the Republicans token Minority member of the same minority as the current President.

He is just another Token like West. And the fact that they let themselves be used as such indicates that they are totally inept for any high position.

The truly smart individuals of color are Democrats - few exceptions.

he was never a viable candidate to begin with, in reality.
