Cowboys defensive player to watch: DeMarcus Ware

Jimm Powerz: How would you rank Clay Matthews, DeMarcus Ware, and James Harrison?
1. James Harrison
2. DeMarcus Ware
3. Clay Matthews

To me Harrison is the better OLB because he is a more complete player.

Hard to argue with that. Harrison is more well rounded than Ware, but if you gave me a choice between the two I'd take Ware because he's more athletic and a better pass rusher. When given a chance he's also been very good in coverage and run support, but he just doesn't get asked to do that as much as Harrison does.

CMIII is a decent pick for #3. Terrell Suggs has a good case though.

At 32 James Harrison's production is going to start to go down. At 25 Clay Matthews isn't even at his prime yet. In addition while Harrison had Woodley to help him out and draw away pressure, Clay Matthews was constantly double teamed and still made big plays. Clay Matthews also had a leg injury that prevented him from going to practice mid-season and he was still bringing it on game day. Clay Matthew's athleticism, upper body strength, and sheer determination make him, in my opinion, a much better OLB than Harrison.

I think it is still Harrison.
since he didn't start for several years, he doesn't have as much wear and tear, as most OLB's his age.
Clay is right behind him, will probably catch him in a couple years.
but for now, it's still Harrison.

I agree with you completely. Harrison, Ware, Matthews in that order although there are some other players worth mentioning. Bur Harrison and Ware are a lock on 1 and 2

I agree. Harrison is a inferior pass rusher than the other two, but he makes it up by being better at run stopping and in coverage. He's also better at going after the ball, 6 FFs, 2 INTs compared to Clay's 2 FFs and 1 int, and Ware's 2 FF and 0 INTs. Harrison also has around 40 more tackles than the other two..
